DEAD RINGER

If I happened to ask you, "Who should you consider as your fiercest competitor in life?", there will be lots of options scanning through your mind. But, you will never believe me if i tell you a little later that the answer is "YOU" !!!!

P.S. :- Born with siblings, or even being one of a Siamese twins, or being in a competitive world does not change this perspective even a little.

Just imagine waking up one fine morning and you find 100 % identical person competing against you ! Compete against this paradox existence ! You will be way ahead of others, because you will start competing against yourself.

Always have a "dead ringer" in life as your paradox competitor for consistent improvement .....

DARK HORSE

Denim - the most popular brand of jeans, has been in the industry since the eighteenth century. The amusing fact is that the so-called "jean" was used as a rug for the Genoa's sailors to work in the deck. It was not meant to be a fashion apparel.

If the company had thought on the lines- "How will people wear an apparel that is meant to be a rug?" - the whole concept of jeans would not have existed !

So, have confidence in the task you do. Do not let people write you off, because many a time under-dogs have emerged as champions !

Be proud to be a "Dark Horse" ...it will be just a matter of time before you bask in the glory of sunshine !

CUT TO THE CHASE

During my graduation I got a chance to be the MASTER OF CEREMONY (MC). I still remember a line of the script which I used - "Showing gratitude is like carols to everyone's ears. Let us honour our chief guest with a bouquet" .

As in, "Carols" are the religious hymns sung by Christians around the X'mas tree. But the Chief Guest of the day was apparently a non - Chrisrtian. Ironically, he never complained about the clash of religious belief....lol

People do not bother much, when are being praised. They are mesmerized enough that they do not really look into each and every word spoken of him/her to such an extent that they will be blushing all day.

On the contrast this does not apply to other situations. One will always have to be precise in his speaking, to put his point across to the listener. Please note that
  • The listener does not have all the time in the world to attend to you.
  • If he/she will be pushed into boredom it will create indifference to whatever you convey.

Instead of saying "2 + 2" , learn to say precisely and boldly as "4" .CUT TO THE CHASE !!!!

UP A BLIND ALLEY

Question : What is "RIGHT" ? Can you tell me that you are always right?

Answer : "Wrong" is the converse of  "Right". But, both the terms are relative. The truth is nobody can define what is right!. People often ask us, "Are you doing the right thing?". What is right for us can be wrong according to them.

Entrepreneurs never have a fixed regime to reach their goal. Following what others consider is the right and the most convenient way could take a blossoming businessman, years to achieve the status he desires.

Be unique ! Be innovative ! Why tread the same path in life, just because everyone considers it right. Again, what is right to some is not the same to others.

Dare to "up a blind alley" if u feel from inside that its the right way to go, because none in this universe is absolutely right !

"DRY RUN" - A tribute to Michael Jackson

"The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work."
- Michael Jackson

Practice is the magic bullet that Micheal Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) knows above all else. For an upcoming show hw would practice day in and day out, for weeks and weeks - every note , lyric and move coordinated to perfection. His goal was to mesmerise u; which he did with so much disdain. Remember, when you are lured into such a legend's perfomance it is not sheer accident.

Once , during a personal interview - live on stage -, "The King of Pop" was asked to perform a moon-walk to get the crowd going. To the bemusement of the interviewer and the loyal fans, MJ diasapproved the request . On an honest note, he apologized that he was lacking on practice and rehearsal to perform before the masses.

Nothing to do with the self-confidence of MJ, cos there is no better to do a moon-walk than the legend himself. It underlines the necessity of practice in whatever one does.

Practice makes a man perfect..... so always "DRY RUN" before you could start a task; then SUCCESS is all yours !!!!

Join us in paying tribute to MJ, who was a pioneer of values such as Practice and Hardwork !!

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR

People say conversation is a lost art; how often i have wished it were. - Edward R. Murrow

  • An average worker spends 50 percent of his or her time communicating
  • Business success is 5 percent dependent on effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Forty-five percent of time spent on communicating is listening
  • Writing represents nine percent of communication time
  • One-fourth of all workplace mistakes are the result of poor communication
  • A remarkable 75 percent of communication is nonverbal

Now you would have obtained a fair idea of the importance of  effective communication. Communication is not confined to the walls of the workplace. Statistics reveal interpersonal skills to be a direct measure of your self-confidence. So, obviously you will not be deemed to be low on self-confidence by fellow people.

Here, I present to you how to organize your interpersonal communication for more effectiveness :
  1. Be clear from the outset as to the purpose of what you wish to convey.
  2. Clarify ideas in your mind before you attempt to communicate them.
  3. Stay on topic. Do not beat around the bush.
  4. Recognize people.
  5. Pay attention to your body language. Be ready to listen, if need arise.
  6. Be ready to listen, if need arises.

  1. So, "Put the glass down", and just concentrate on the above basic attributes for effective communication

Start communicating better from today !

PUT THE GLASS DOWN

A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.
He held it up for all to see; asked the students,' How much do you think this glass weighs?'
'50gm!' .... '100gm!' ......'125gm' ......the students answered.
'I really don't know unless I weigh it,' said the professor,'but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?'
'Nothing' the students said.
'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked.
'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the students.
'You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?'
'Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress; paralysis;
'Have to go to hospital for sure!' ventured another student; all the students laughed.
'Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?' asked
The professor. 'No' the students said.
Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?'
The students were puzzled.
'Put the glass down!' said one of the students.
'Exactly!' said the professor.' Life's problems are something like this.
Hold it for a few minutes in your head; they seem OK.
Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache. Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.
It's important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to 'put them down' at the end of every day before you go to sleep.
That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!'
Remember to 'PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY!
